Pre-Teens and Teens in Play Therapy

This makes play therapy a challenge: how do you heal those maneuvering the middle ground between childhood and adulthood? This video course explores when to apply directive and non-directive play, how to work with older children, how to set goals for this population, and how to turn the awkward into the authentic.

Pre-teens and Teens in Play Therapy Objectives:

  • Identify why it is important not to have a script for when to apply directive and non-directive play therapy interventions with pre-teens and teens
  • Discuss the importance of assessing the pre-teen or teen’s emotional age in the play therapy process
  • Describe the most important goal when applying play therapy to your work with pre-teens and teens

Credits: 3 APT Non-Contact CE Credits*

Play therapy credit may be awarded to graduate students enrolled in a graduate mental health program or individuals who hold a graduate mental health degree. If you do not qualify for play therapy credit and would like to receive a certificate of completion for this course please contact the Institute.

***The Synergetic Play Therapy Institute’s Approved Provider status under the Association for Play Therapy (APT) ends December 31, 2023. If you would like to use the CE Credit Hours earned in this course toward an APT credential you must complete all course requirements and download your CE Certificate by no later than December 31, 2023. Certificates dated after December 31, 2023, will not be accepted by APT.***
