WELCOME BACK – Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy® Refresher!

We are so glad that you have chosen to come back to join us for this Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy® Refresher! During the next six months, as a past student who has taken any Introductory Level 1 course (Online or In-person Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy® program, Synergetic Play Therapy® Supplemental course, or a Synergetic Play Therapy® Intensive), you’ll be able to review, learn, and deepen your understanding of the basic principles of Synergetic Play Therapy®.

Each month you’ll get access to short video clips that highlight important and key introductory concepts of Synergetic Play Therapy®. This will be followed by a monthly LIVE one-hour webinar with Judy Norman, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, Supervisor, Teacher, and Co-Founder of the Synergetic Education Institute, for an opportunity to come back into community and strengthen your understanding of these concepts as she explains, elaborates, and flushes out the nuances – that’s six new opportunities to review, connect, and deepen your learning of the basic principles of Synergetic Play Therapy®.

Here’s what you need to know to get started!

About Your Teacher: Judy Norman is a Certified SPT Teacher, Certified SPT Supervisor and Co-trainer with Lisa for the SPT Certification program.  She is also the co-founder with Lisa of the Synergetic Education Institute (SEI). SEI trains and empowers educators (district and site level administrators, school-based mental health professionals, classroom and special teachers, and support personnel) in ways to support students from a neuroscience, nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, and social-emotional framework.

Required Book: Have your copy of Aggression in Play Therapy: A Synergetic Approach for Integrating Intensity handy and review chapters as we go along. 

Refresher Access & Video Clips: Each month you’ll receive access to short video clips to review key Synergetic Play Therapy® introductory concepts. You’ll find the video clips within the corresponding lessons along with handouts and additional resources/short videos to supplement your learning. Please note that some of the video clips are from the Online Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy® program, while others are updated recordings. Access to all content will be available until August 31st, 2024.

Monthly Live Webinars: Come back into community each month for a one-hour LIVE webinar with Judy Norman. During the webinars, Judy will add in new understandings, as well as help you review, deepen, and continue to apply the basic principles of Synergetic Play Therapy® into your clinical practice or daily life. Plus, Lisa is constantly learning herself and tightening up the teachings, so you’ll also get to hear new nuances and insights that have become part of SPT teachings.

We hope you can attend live, but if you’re unable to make it, these live webinars will be recorded and a replay will be available to watch or re-watch at your leisure.

Ongoing Synergetic Play Therapy® Consultation: While consultation is not a part of this course, we understand that consultation can be a very important part of your learning, growth, and journey as a therapist. We strongly recommend adding in some individual or group consultation with one of our Senior Intro Consultants, while taking part in this Refresher course. Learn more here! 

Community & Resources:

CE Credit Hours: 0 CE Credit Hours. *Please note that as this is a review of the basic Synergetic Play Therapy® concepts that you learned in your previous Introductory Level 1 course, CE credit hours will not be awarded. 

SPT Credential Renewal/Recertification: If you are a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist or Certified Synergetic Play Provider and would like to count the hours spent in live webinars during this course towards your Recertification requirement, you have the opportunity to earn up to 6 hours toward the 18 CE Credit Hours required for renewal (attendance at each live webinar counts as 1 credit hour). Please email the Institute if you’d like more details about the recertification requirements. (Note: The Refresher course does not replace the Online Introduction to Synergetic Play Therapy program.)
