Meet Your Teacher:

Judith Norman, LPC, LSC, RPT-S, is a co-founder and lead trainer of the Synergetic Education institute™. She is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and is a Certified Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor and Teacher. She is the creator of the Developmental Mindsets Paradigm,™ is a Parent Educator, and is Certified in EMDR Therapy. Implementing the tenets of Synergetic Play Therapy in educational settings, she trains both school-based and clinical mental health professionals.

Meet the SPT Supervisor Consultants:

Khristine Rolfe, LCMHC, RPT-S, is a Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor Consultant and Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and Supervisor, with over 25 years of therapeutic and educational experience in a variety of settings. She is honored to guide others in their professional and personal journeys and seeks to provide a supervisory experience that facilitates one’s intuitive wisdom, strength and authenticity. Khristine is also the former Supervisor Trainer for the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute.

Mili Sarmiento-Shoemaker, LPC, RPT-S, is the Synergetic Play Therapy Institute’s Supervisor Trainer, as well as a Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor Consultant, a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and Supervisor. She has been studying and practicing SPT since 2010. Mili loves witnessing the growth and transformation supervisees go through during their supervision process. Mili has been in private practice since 2013. She is an LPC, RPT-S, LSW in Argentina, EMDR trained, and is currently studying a certification program in Gestalt and Family Constellation.

Polly Douglass, is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist and Supervisor, Registered Play Therapy Supervisor, and trained in EMDR and Internal Family Systems. Based in Boulder, Colorado, she has a private practice and a parent coaching business. Polly has been an Associate with the Institute, passionate about guiding clinicians through professional and personal transformation using SPT, Relational Neuroscience, and Internal Family Systems Theory since 2013.

Program Requirements:

  • Watch 10 pre-recorded video modules and complete associated quizzes
  • Watch 1 “Recorded Video Set” of a real supervisor/supervisee session and complete a Reflective Observation Form to record your analysis of the session
  • Complete 1 Professional Development Plan, to be reviewed during individual consultation with an SPT Supervisor Consultant
  • Complete and submit the Supervisor Recertification Handouts Packet to the Institute to finalize your renewal.

This program is comprised of 10 modules each with a set release date to support you in moving through the program at a steady pace, so mark your calendars now!

  • April 7, 2027, Module 3: What does it mean to be a Synergetic Play Therapy Supervisor? 
  • May 5, 2027, Module 4: Deepening our Understanding  of Synergetic Play Therapy Supervision
  • June 2, 2027, Module 5: Beginning our Work with Supervisees
  • July 7, 2027, Module 6: Embodying Synergetic Play Therapy Principles in Supervision
  • August 4, 2027, Module 7: Attachment to Self as the Cornerstone of Supervision
  • September 1, 2027, Module 8: Empowerment and Overcoming Challenges for Supervisors and Supervisees
  • October 6, 2027, Module 9: Group Supervision through a Synergetic Play Therapy Lens*
  • November 3, 2027, Module 10: Transitions and Endings in Supervision through a Synergetic Play Therapy Lens

*During Module 9 you will also view a Recorded Video Set and will complete a written analysis.

Program Assignments/Google Drive Folder:

Before you gain access to Module 1 on February 17th, you will receive an email from the Institute granting you access to a Google Drive folder. This folder will contain a Supervisor Recertification Program Handouts Packet, which you will use to complete written assignments during the program, including taking notes on Module Outlines and completing the Reflective Observation Form video analysis and Professional Development Plan.

Individual Consultation:

As part of the program, you will be required to complete one individual consultation with an assigned SPT Supervisor Consultant. During this consultation, you will review your completed Professional Development Plan.

An SPT Supervisor Consultant will contact you by February 19, 2027, to introduce themselves and schedule your individual consultation for later in the program.

*You also have the option to purchase additional individual consultation during the program with an SPT Supervisor Consultant for further support, or to meet the 8 hours of consultation required to fully renew your credential.

CE Credit Hours: 

13 CE Credit Hours. NBCC Content Area: Counseling Theory/Practice and the Counseling Relationship, Social and Cultural Foundations, Group Dynamics and Counseling, Counselor Professional Identity and Practice Issue

Synergetic Play Therapy Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7450. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Synergetic Play Therapy Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Synergetic Play Therapy Institute is also an Approved Provider for the following associations:

Continuing education credit hours may be awarded to graduate-level counselors or students enrolled in a graduate-level mental health program. If you do not qualify for continuing education credit hours and would like to receive a certificate of completion for this course please contact the Institute directly.
