At the Intersection of Trauma, Language, and Culture Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the effects of trauma and how they interact with language and cultural factors, thereby affecting the delivery of treatment
- Develop effective strategies for transcultural and translingual communication to foster trust and overcome barriers when working with a diverse client population
- Design best practices for collaborating with interpreters to ensure trust-building, empathetic communication that engages limited English proficient and Deaf/Hard of Hearing clients
- Formulate actionable strategies to navigate challenging scenarios that may arise in the context of trauma-informed, multicultural, and multilingual therapy
CE Credit Hours: 2 CE Credit Hours, NBCC Content Areas: Counseling Theory/Practice and the Counseling Relationship; Social and Cultural Foundations, and Counselor Professional Identity and Practice Issues
