Using Games in Play Therapy

How do we use chess as a pawn in our therapeutic healing? How can we call on checkers to check on the child’s state of regulation?  What does a game tell us about a child’s emotional world? Using Games In Play Therapy Course Objectives:

  • Explore clues to assess the emotional age of the child playing a game in a play therapy session
  • Discuss how to understand what the child is trying to tell the therapist through the use of games in play therapy
  • Describe why looking at “how” a child uses a game is the most important part of games in play therapy

Play therapy credit may be awarded to graduate students enrolled in a graduate mental health program or individuals who hold a graduate mental health degree.
