From parents that doubt to parents that refuse to listen to suggestions, not all parents are sold on the idea of play therapy or what the therapist thinks would be helpful. This course is designed to help demystify the resistant parent by exploring what resistance is and is not. Most importantly, this course will help you understand how to engage parents that are seemingly resistant so that you can better engage them in the process and their child’s healing.

Working with Resistant Parents/Caregivers in Play Therapy Learning Objectives:

  • Examine what is really going on when a parent shows signs of resistance
  • Discuss the importance of translating the play to the parents
