This guidebook has been created to help you navigate your role as Certification Consultant during the Synergetic Play Therapy Certification program. Please take the time to look through all of the information below to familiarize yourself with the content.
Within this guidebook, you will find access to all of the important dates, documents, and resources specific to being a Certification Consultant to help you prepare and support your Certification students!

Getting Started:
Before the program begins, please make sure you are familiar with and can easily navigate the first four lessons at the bottom of the page: Master Schedule for Consultants, SPT Consultant Supporting Documents & Resources, SPT Consultant Contract Information, and Admin Check-In Recordings.
*Please note: All lessons will need to be completed in order before you will gain access to the next lesson in the guidebook. Simply mark each lesson as complete to move on to the next.
Master Schedule for Consultants – this lesson includes a full list of all the important class dates for the current cohort, upcoming Admin Check-In dates with your Program Consultant Coordinator, Corinne Elms, and dates for your Cert Consultant Clinical Groups with Supervisor Trainer, Mili Shoemaker. This lesson will also include all of the Zoom Meeting Links needed for the Live Webinars during the Synergetic Play Therapy Certification program.
SPT Consultant Supporting Documents & Resources – this is where you will find all of the links, templates, documents, and other resources needed to support you as a Certification Consultant.
SPT Consultant Contract Information – This lesson includes information related to your role as an independent contractor. Here you will find language directly from your contract related to responsibilities, rates, and best practices to support you in fully stepping into this role.
Admin Check-In Recordings – all Admin Check-Ins with your Program Consultant Coordinator will be recorded. Should you need to miss a live check-in date, you will be able to find the recording within this lesson.
Synergetic Play Therapy Certification Program Material – Specific to First Year Certification Consultants:
Starting with the “Pre-Certification & Certification Consultation Prep” lesson, you are seeing the program exactly as the students see it.
In addition to understanding what your students are seeing/experiencing, as a first year Certification Consultant you will also be required to complete each lesson and take the associated quizzes.
To further support you during your first year, you have been granted access to each month’s lesson page one month before the students. Within each lesson page, you will find the recordings from the 2024-2025 SPT Certification program cohort so that you may view the recordings and know what to expect during the live webinars that month.
You will be required to view each month’s class recordings and take the month’s quiz before the first scheduled live webinar of the current program.

Individual/Group Consultations:
You will be assigned students by the Program Consultant Coordinator before the start of the program, no later than the first week of July. These student assignments will be based on the time zones you requested to support and group sizes determined by your Cert Consultant contract. You will support your students for one Pre-Certification consultation in late July/early August, seven Individual consultations, and two Group consultations during the 10-month program.
Within the SPT Consultant Supporting Documents & Resources lesson, below, you will find the information you need for leading your monthly consultations. The lesson will include email templates to help you welcome and guide your students through Make-Up Consultation steps (if needed), guided content you should be focusing on each month in consultation, and a Consultation Notes template to help you stay organized – so you can focus on the right brain, relational part we love!
CE Credit Hours:
As a first year Certification Consultant, you are eligible to earn CE Credit Hours for your participation in the Synergetic Play Therapy Certification program!
Once you have completed the final lesson of the program and taken the quiz, you will have the opportunity to download and/or print a CE Certificate acknowledging the 85 CE Credit Hours earned during the program.
Synergetic Play Therapy Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7450. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Synergetic Play Therapy Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Synergetic Play Therapy Institute is also an Approved Provider for the following associations:
*Australian Play Therapists Association (APTA) Approved Provider
*British Columbia Play Therapy Association (BCPTA) Approved Provider 23-01
Continuing education credit hours may be awarded to graduate-level counselors or students enrolled in a graduate-level mental health program. If you do not qualify for continuing education credit hours and would like to receive a certificate of completion for this course please contact the Institute directly.
*After your first year as a consultant, you will no longer be required to complete the program quizzes and will not receive continuing education credit for the program.
