Understanding Children’s Moods and Behaviors: A Neurobiological Perspective

Course taught by Lisa Dion

What will you learn? This course is designed for therapists, by therapists to help clinicians explain the play therapy process to teachers and find an ally inside the classroom. Childrens’ behaviors can be perplexing, but there’s a reason they do the things they do! Dive into the details of neuroscience and learn how the different states of the nervous system show up in the classroom, on the playground, and everywhere else!

Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify how the brain processes information, activates the different states of the nervous system and the impact this has on children’s behaviors;
  2. Participants will understand the role they play in teaching children self-regulation;
  3. Participants will learn how the environment contributes to a child’s ability to self-regulate.
