Make it a creative arts weekends with our Synergetic Approach to Using Sand in Play Therapy and our Synergetic Approach to Using Art in Play Therapy! These classes unravel the mystery of sand and art in the play therapy room. During this weekend, you will have a one of kind experience as you explore a new and fresh way of using sand and art non-directively (Synergetic Play Therapy) and directively (Gestalt) in your play therapy sessions. Through didactic and experiential teachings, you will learn how to apply principals from interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and brain development into your work with sand and art in play therapy. You will also learn what it means to attach to one’s self as the cornerstone for all healing, the importance of congruent emotional expression in the playroom, how to identify types of dysregulation in the child’s sand trays and artwork and how to model regulation while the child is engaged in these activities, and ultimately how to re-pattern a child’s nervous system while taking care of your own nervous system to prevent vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. By exploring the healing power of this modality, you will be better able to facilitate your client’s process.
•Understand the importance of attunement and emotional congruency while facilitating a child’s sand and art process in play therapy
•Determine how to use neuroscience to deepen a child’s healing while engaged in sand play and art play in the playroom
•Understand Synergetic Play Therapy’s “The Set Up/The Offering” and how to use this information to understand what the child is trying to communicate in their sand trays and artwork
•Understand the states of dysregulation and how they show up in a child’s sand trays and artwork
•Understand the difference between facilitating the use of sand and art in play therapy through directive (Gestalt) and non-directive (Synergetic Play Therapy) processes
•Understand the connection between how a child plays with sand and creates art and their nervous system
