Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) can be a part of growing up. But how can we help turn these obstacles into opportunities for growth and resilience? And apply this knowledge to the play therapy process? This webinar explores how play therapy can be used to help mitigate the effects of ACES. Learn the major categories of ACES, along with protective factors or strategies that have been shown to be helpful both in the short-term and long-term.

You’ll find her attending conferences, workshops, and participating in ongoing supervision to keep current on what is happening in mental health and early childhood development. Her specialties include: early childhood behavioral challenges (age 2-6), Sensory Processing and Integration challenges, Atypical neurodevelopment (Gifted and Talented, Autism Spectrum, Developmental delay) & Trauma. Erin is a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist/Supervisor and also trained in Level I and II EMDR.

ACES in Play Therapy Objectives:

  • Participants will list the 3 major categories of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), and identify one ACE in each category.
  • Participants will identify 3-5 protective factors or strategies that have been shown as helpful in building resilience or healing the long term effects of ACES.
  • Participants will apply how play therapy process can assist clients heal from short and long term effects of ACES.
